Funeral Mass Arrangements

The Parish community of St. Teresa of Avila is dedicated to supporting families coping with the loss of a loved one, assuring them that they are not solitary in their grief. With unwavering faith in God, we guide individuals through the path of healing. The Christian funeral Mass aims to instill hope and provide solace to grieving families.

Planning
The Bereavement Ministry is tasked with aiding the family in choosing appropriate readings, gospels, petitions, and music for the funeral liturgy and committal from a diverse selection.

• Families in need of Funeral Mass arrangements do not need to contact the parish - their chosen funeral home will contact the parish for the availability of the church and a presider. 
• Depending on the day the funeral is scheduled, weekly funerals are usually held at 10:00 am. Saturday availability is typically 11:00 am to 1:00 pm depending on other scheduled events in the church.
• A St. Teresa Bereavement Minister will contact the family to plan the Mass after the funeral home calls with their contact information. 
• Bereavement Ministers assist at the Funeral Mass and if needed they can be called upon to lector, assist with the offertory procession, distribute Holy Communion, or whatever the family requires. 
• Cemetery arrangements are scheduled through the funeral home if not already arranged.   

We extend the opportunity for members of our church to proactively plan their funeral arrangements, aiming to alleviate the burden on their families during challenging times.
