Reverend John Amankwah





Born in Ghana, Fr. John is a naturalized citizen of the United States, ordained as a Catholic priest on June 30, 1979. He served as a Clergy Personnel and Director for the Center for Human Development (CEHUD) for the Ghana Bishops’ Conference. Fr. John taught at Duquesne University and University of Pittsburgh, PA before coming to Cincinnati to teach as an associate professor in the Department of Communication and New Media Studies at the Mount St. Joseph University, Cincinnati. Fr. John volunteers in many Campus Ministry activities and celebrates Mass at the University twice a week. Recently he was made the priest moderator for the Ghanaian Catholic Community at St. Matthias the Apostle Parish where he ministers to the community on Sundays at 1:00pm.

He made his commitment as an Associate in Mission of the Sisters of Charity in November 2014. Recently, Fr. John was elected the president of the International Mission for Children (IMC), a subsidiary Foundation of the Knights of Columbus in Cincinnati area.

Fr. John holds a doctorate degree in Communication and Rhetorical Studies, and two Masters’ degrees in Corporate Communication and Social & Public Policy.
