Fr. George Schmitz grew up in Bridgetown, Ohio, the oldest of 10 children. After attending St. Aloysius elementary school he entered the Seminary at age 14 and was ordained a priest on May 24, 1969. As a priest he has served as a high school religion teacher; hospital chaplain at Good Samaritan in Cincinnati and Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Ohio.
Fr. George has also been an associate pastor, parish administrator and pastor at various parishes in the diocese, including Our Lady of Rosary, St. Leo, Our Lady of Victory, St Martin and St. Teresa of Avila in Cincinnati. Through the years he has enjoyed camping, sailing, photography and regular walks in the woods and parks. In 2011 Fr. George officially retired yet continues to minister at St. Teresa and other parishes in the Western Hills area. He has resided in downtown Cincinnati since 2013.
